My Story

At a very young age, I completely fell in love with nutrition. Growing up on a self-sustained farm in Alberta, Canada, my family and I literally ate farm-to-table each day. Beef and butter-slathered root vegetables, like turnips, parsnips or potatoes, were mainstays on our dinner table every night. Eating these clean foods created a happy and healthy child.

Until I developed an autoimmune disease called vitiligo. Vitiligo is a condition in which the pigment cells of the skin are destroyed, causing affected areas to turn pale and often seen as patches of white skin.

Needless to say, I was teased mercilessly at school. I was different ... and sad. I had body image dysmorphia before there was actually a name for it. All I wanted was to fit in and be like everyone else. With determination to figure out how, I explored my local library and learned that diet can speed up or slowdown the progression of vitiligo. That was my first exposure to the fact that food could have function. I used this knowledge to help me cope throughout my life. While I still have this disease, I have learned over the years to manage it while loving my body, just as it is.

It is because of this early experience that I have such deep compassion for helping others love their bodies, too.

Upon graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s of Science in Food and Nutrition, I began my life's work as a Registered Dietitian and have spent the past 30 years in private practice teaching clients that diet can change everything ... and that food, when consumed correctly, is medicine. Nutrition is still a new science and we continue to learn about how foods impact our bodies every day. I love keeping up new developments and empowering my clients with this new information. It's truly my passion to support others in their wellness journey.

"My Food Philosophy:

* Food was put on this earth to nourish and strengthen us. Real food, not processed food.

* Food also brings us pleasure.

Understanding and implementing this philosophy will allow food freedom. It’s truly amazing once you get there."

My Mission

My mission is to teach my clients to nourish and love their body using simple, clean ingredients. Nutrition, over time, has become too complicated. It's now time to simplify.
