Weight Loss
Diane is a true leader in the field of weight loss. She doesn't believe in "diets" at all. No more calorie counting. Diane believes calorie counting doesn't and will never work. Weight gain happens over the years for multiple reasons and not just from calories. The new weight loss model is hormonal-based and works on changing gut microbes. When food is used as function, gut bacteria changes and weight loss is created. Timing of meals is another big part of achieving and maintaining weight loss. Let Diane teach you about this new weight loss model and more.
Family Nutrition
Family nutrition ranges from preconception to geriatrics. While working with both ends of the spectrum, Diane has helped clients become pregnant through simple diet changes and helped slowdown the progression of dementia in the elderly.
Disease prevention is the key to a long, healthy
life and Diane loves to work with all ages, from adolescents to seniors, to teach them how to nourish themselves and keep diseases at bay.
Mental Health / Eating Disorders
For Diane, treating a mental health disease like an eating disorder is the same as treating a physical disease. There should be no shame in it.
Diane knows that diet can change brain chemistry. It can improve mental health. Diane's eating disorder clients have improved greatly with her knowledge, education and compassion.
Oncology Nutrition
Food and cancer are directly correlated. There's enough studies now that show that the Standard American Diet can lead to cancer at some point in a person's life. Some now say obesity is, also, a leading cause of cancer.
A poor diet causes both obesity and cancer and prevention is the key.
Occasionally, unusual situations occur when even a person with a clean diet develops cancer. Good nutrition combined with conventional treatment helps to fight cancer, as does the reduction of sugar. Diane actively works with patients diagnosed with cancer to lesson the side effects of treatments and fight back against the cancer cells.
Gut Nutrition
Did you know that 80% of your immune system lives in your gut? Most diseases start in the gut, such as irritable bowel syndrome and many inflammatory diseases. Any disease with an "itis" on the end is inflammatory and directly correlates to an unhealthy gut.
Obesity, too, is now considered an inflammatory disease and needs to be treated. When Diane heals a client’s gut, they immediately feel better and often inflammatory symptoms of pain go away. A healthy gut creates a healthy body and mind.
Insulin Resistance
Insulin resistance is the precursor to diabetes and the reason so many people struggle with
weight loss. Insulin resistance affects approximately 78% of the population. Diane teaches clients how to make simple changes to take them from being insulin resistant to insulin sensitive. People with insulin resistance put on weight very fast. People who are insulin sensitive do not.
Food Allergies/Sensitivities
Food allergies and sensitivities are very serious issues and Diane knows how to treat them. Working with and learning from allergists over the years, she has helped many people overcome food sensitivities and broaden their diet so they can enjoy food again.
Heart Health/
High Cholesterol
Heart disease is still the leading cause of death in North America. Old outdated science tells us to avoid eating entire food groups to keep cholesterol low. This, unfortunately, is false information. Most people have high cholesterol because they eat the Standard American Diet that is high in carbohydrates and sugar. Intake of too much of these foods will cause the body to make cholesterol. High cholesterol does not come from eggs or animals. Diane reconstructs her client's food plan to reduce cholesterol while allowing them to continue to eat whole food groups they love.
Bariatrics
Diane has successfully prepared many of her clients for bariatric surgery. Following the surgery, she guides them to eat in new ways and coaches them to maintain the success the surgery achieved. Bariatric surgery is a tool to help lose weight. With additional nutrition knowledge, patients can maintain a low body weight for life.
